RaritiesMarch 28, 1980 Capitol Records Different from the UK release "Rarities", the US Rarities album focused on 15 songs never released in the US, or different versions of previously released tracks. Also included is the famous 'inner groove' of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which, on the original release (and in the UK only), could only be heard on record players which didn't have an auto return needle feature (which itself was somewhat of a rarity). The release of this record is interesting, as it was originally scheduled to be the same album as the UK "Rarities", but thanks to Capitol Records Director of Merchandising and Advertising Randall Davis, who felt Beatles fans were subjected to sub-standard quality albums such as Rock N' Roll Music and Love Songs, (besides the fact that only four of the songs on the UK version were unavailable in the US) intervened and put together the US version.
