A Beatles Timeline

The Pre-Beatles Era

Dates of birth and the formation of the basis of the Beatles - The Quarry Men.

1962

Meeting Brian Epstein, rejection from Decca, and the recording of their first album.

1963

The rise to fame in Britain and the release of several EPs and singles, as well as their second album.

1964

The band conquers America, releases their first film as well several albums, EPs, and singles, and are introduced to drugs.

1965

The Fab Four meet Elvis, release another film and are presented with MBE honors from the Queen.

1966

John's 'bigger than Jesus' comment, 'Beatle burnings', and their last concert performance as popularity begins to take its toll.

1967

Brian Epstein dies, Apple Corps is formed, and the band changes the face of pop music with a single album.

1968

Meditation in India, the 'White Album', and the endless bickering begins as the band is on the way toward break-up.

1969

John marries, as does Paul, as the Beatles try desparately to smooth things out - releasing their swan song as well as a mess of an album.

1970

The band releases 2 albums, both featuring previously recorded and released material, and announce they are through.
